Ozarks Alliance to End Homelessness
The Ozarks Alliance to End Homelessness (OAEH) serves as our community’s Continuum of Care – the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) designated regional planning body for coordinating homeless services and funding. We work on a community-wide level with agencies, advocates and individuals to ensure that homelessness is rare, brief and non-recurring in Christian, Greene and Webster Counties.
Community Partnership of the Ozarks has facilitated this initiative locally since 1995 when HUD established the program nationally in an effort to coordinate housing and services funding for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Through the OAEH, HUD distributes funding of over $1 million to local agencies to provide direct shelter and support services for our homeless.
Every January communities across the United States conduct Point in Time Counts in order to take a one-day “snap shot” of what homelessness looks like on a local level. We do this not only to meet federal mandates, but also to identify trends and emerging needs within our communities to improve service delivery. Information is also used at the local, state, and federal levels to inform funding and policy decisions. The local initiative is coordinated by OAEH and major support is provided by its partner agencies. These results bring approximately $1 million in funding to our local community and help us create the best solutions to ending homelessness, so accurate results are important!
Every Action Counts: A Homeless Awareness Campaign through the month of November
OAEH will share information on activities planned throughout the community by local service agencies and homeless advocates regarding Homeless Awareness Month. View the calendar of events here:
